On November 19, the government of Rajasthan will begin 'Chess in Schools' on every third Saturday of the month.

Education Minister B D Kalla said students from over 60000 schools will play chess on the third Saturday of every month during 'No bag day'.

The education department will also organize district and state chess competitions after students get knowledgeable about chess play.

The education department said the state wants the students to become grandmasters in chess.

Dr. Kalla has launched the ‘chess in school’ at the 66th District Level School Sports competition at Ramesh English Medium School in Bikaner.

On the launch day, he himself played a game with a student.

The chess and other essential games are being purchased under a scheme called 'Khel Grant' (sports fund) for identified educational institutions.
